@Devon Price I’m struggling to identify the exact reason to cut off your mother (and yourself) from each other. Is it because of a vote? Is it because you don’t feel accepted as who you are?

I think of the times when I felt my mother wasn’t interested in my life, or clearly didn’t understand my choices. I think of what my sister went through by marrying outside of her race.

Then I think of the years of her dementia, and towards the end that my mother didn’t recognize me any more.

I can’t judge you for your decision since I can’t imagine what you go through, but I can say that I have no regrets hanging in with my one and only mother, who has been gone now for a few years.

Burying your mother can change things. Just make sure you won’t have regrets after.
