Interesting, and from the viewpoint of someone in his 60’s, I can say that my passions are different now than they were 10, 20, 30 years ago. And I have less of them now (my fault, no doubt).

The other thing is that if one pursues one’s passion as a job, one is likely to find that in order to do that one has to do tons of crap.

Writing as a profession, for example, involves pitching, writing outlines, marketing, and a whole raft of things that aren’t enjoyable for me. Some, I hate.

So while I have a passion for writing, to work as a writer I have to do stuff I don’t want to do.
