One of the things I’ve noticed is that Western society often tried to take something from ancient or other cultures, and try to transform it into a tool that has an end result. Which usually fails.
The problem with western “mindfulness” is that it’s divorced from context, and so it’s used as a means to an end, which involves striving, which in turn, completely ruins the practice.
it’s nothing new. Mindfulness isn’t a tool. It’s a way of being that is best practiced for its own sake.
