The larger problem which encompasses this issue is that so many things have been dumped onto schools to teach that it’s not possible to shoe horn in MORE stuff, and expect to improve educational outcomes.

No doubt there are literally hundreds of topics that fall into “learning day to day use” things (i.e. the phone, the cell phone, using the bus system, etc) that kids need to learn. But is it best taught in schools? What needs to be dropped?

We can’t keep adding things to school responsibilities, particularly things that used to be taught by parents. The focus of schools has become so muddied over the last decades, the whole thing is impossible now.

There needs to be way more balance between home vs school responsibilities in terms of teaching, and training kids. Some thing can be well taught by parents. Other things are best taught by schools by people with more advanced knowledge.
